Jean Kelly created the Comfort-U Body Pillow when she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition that causes chronic muscle and joint pain. The Comfort-U Body Pillow was therefore designed to provide support for your entire body regardless of whether you were laying on your right side, left side, or back. The length of this pillow allows you to stretch out your body from whatever position you are in and still have the support that you need. It also is designed to keep your body in perfect alignment to reduce back pain and get a more restful sleep.

Is the Comfort-U Body Pillow Right For You?

Here are the reported benefits of using the Comfort-U Body Pillow:

The full length U-shaped design surrounds your entire body and provides support for your head, neck, back, tummy, and legs at the same time which prevents you from waking up with body and muscle pains.

The long length and shape of the pillow provides a lot of flexibility in sleeping positions so you can find the exact position that works for you while still maintaining the proper support for your entire body.

While very supportive, users have reported this pillow as being extremely comfortable as well. This is likely attributed to the Fusion fiber filling that is used as the filler.

The full U shape of the pillow allows you to turn from one side to the other at night without having to move or readjust the pillow which is common with the standard J shaped pregnancy pillow.

Here’s what Moms are saying about the Comfort-U Pillow:

I LOVE THIS PILLOW

I purchased this pillow during my first trimester as I was having bad sleep due to lower back pain. I tried placing a regular pillow behind my back, which did help, but I was still up throughout the night. From the very first night with the Comfort-U pillow, I was able to get a peaceful nights sleep. I’m normally a back sleeper, but this pillow allowed me to sleep primarily on my left side (as most pregnancy books recommend). Now I am in my second trimester and I can not imagine sleeping without this pillow. It is the perfect combination of mushy cushion and support…

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!!

I can not stress enough how much I Love this pillow. This is my 4th pregnancy and I’ve tried many different products. With my 3rd pregnancy, I even invested in one of those air beds with the hole in the middle for your belly. What I love about the Comfort-U pillow is that it has exactly the right amount of softness and firmness to support your head, legs, belly or whatever you want to prop up or provide support for. The problem with the other body pillows was that they were either too firm or too flat and I still had to use other pillows in the bed. I don’t need to use any other pillows now when I’m sleeping.

Perfect Cloud

I did a ton of research on pregnancy pillows before making a decision to spend the extra $40 to buy the Comfort-U pillow. This pillow is great! I was a stomach sleeper before I got pregnant and even as far as three months into my pregnancy, I would find myself accidentally sleeping on my stomach as that was the only way I was able to get a good sleep. After investing in this pillow, I can sleep very naturally and comfortably on either side of my body and sleep through the night. This pillow is not overly firm and can be easily positioned. I do not use another pillow below it as it is completely as supportive as I want it to be. I like that each arm of the pillow is well-filled and can be hugged and squished in any way that I may need support.

Here are the reported disadvantages of the Comfort-U Pillow:

While the size of this pillow is one of its biggest advantages, its also one of its biggest disadvantages. This pillow takes up a good amount of space in the bed. This is pretty common and is the main issue raised with all full length pregnancy pillows.

The price of this pillow is higher than the standard J shaped pregnancy pillow and other U shaped pillow. Many users have reported however that this pillow is worth the added cost for the extra support, flexibility, and the comfort of the Fusion fiber filling.

Is the Back N Belly Body Pillow Right For You?

Here are the reported benefits of using the Back N Belly Body Pillow:

The true total body contoured design provides support for your entire body and eliminates back, neck, and leg pains when you wake up each morning.

The unique dual full length front and back design allows you to provide support for both your back and belly at the same time. It also works great for those that turn a lot at night as you don’t have to readjust the pillow when turning from side to side as you do with some of the traditional cuts.

The pillow design helps to alleviate other common sleep issues like heartburn, nasal congestion, and sciatica.

What are Moms saying about the Leachco Back N Belly Body Pillow?

A Wonderful Pillow – couldn’t be happier!

I have been eyeballing this pregnancy pillow since I was five weeks pregnant. I decided to purchase it now that I am sixteen weeks pregnant, and it is VERY comfortable! I lay down in it and it feels like I’m sleeping in a raft floating on water. This pillow allows me to stay comfy longer in different positions. I still roll over at night but not nearly as much as before. It is comforting to know that I do not have to move the pillow with me when I need to roll over (and I do not knock it to the floor).

Jennifer L. – {review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full original version here}

Simply the Best

I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant so I’m able to provide an accurate review of the Leachco Back N Belly Body Pillow. My husband bought it when I was 4 months pregnant. I immediately began to enjoy sleeping again. It is now even more critical to me as my tummy needs more support as I twist from one side to the other. At this point, it’s a little tricky to get the lower end below my top knee to support my hip, but that would be a problem with any pillow.

I highly recommend the Back N Belly Body Pillow to anyone having difficulty sleeping.

M. Nelson – {review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full original version here}

Awesome Pillow

I’m three months pregnant with my 2nd child. During my first pregnancy, I would have difficulty every night trying to find a comfortable position and by the time I was able to get comfortable I had to get up to use the bathroom. Well as soon as I learned of my current pregnancy I knew that I would need to purchase a maternity pillow before I got too uncomfortable and the Leachco Back N Belly body pillow is awesome. I think even after my pregnancy it will still be kept handy. My husband is jealous of me. I told him that he has to get pregnant first before he could have one and I don’t feel sorry for him one bit

Here are the reported disadvantages of using the Snoogle:

As maternity and pregnancy pillows are full body pregnancy pillows the size of the pillow is almost always reported as a disadvantage. These pillows takes up much more space than a standard pillow.

Some Moms-t0-be actually prefer the traditional cut pregnancy pillow where both sides of the pillow are not the same length. They prefer to not be enclosed in the pillow. This is just a matter of what your preference is.

Here’s what Moms are saying about the Snoogle Total Body Pillow:

I Have No Idea How I Would’ve Survived Without This Pillow!!

I usually don’t write reviews but I was compelled to tell everyone how much I LOVE this pillow. I bought it when I was four months pregnant. I’ve always slept on my stomach since my youngest was born 14 years ago and I was very nervous about having to try to sleep on my side. Well I tried the Leachco Snoogle Total Body Pillow and I was able to sleep on my side comfortably and now I have trouble sleeping without it.

M. Castell – {review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full original version here}

Not Cranky, Drained, and Sore! What a Life Saver!

I bought this pillow when I was 19 weeks pregnant. I’m currently 23 weeks and I absolutely Love my Snoogle. I’m able to able to sleep right through the night finally. My lower back, hip, and leg/knee pain are gone. My shoulder used to hurt the most from attempting to sleep on my side.

R. Theobald – {review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full original version here}

Sweet Dreams….

I had a lot of difficulty getting settled and sleeping throughout the night starting at about eighteen weeks into my pregnancy. I tried just about everything including placing a pillow between my legs, another under my side, but I was still so uncomfortable. Finally I gave in and decided to purchase the Leachco Snoogle Total Body pillow and there’s not enough room here to tell you how much it has helped. I love that it wraps all the way around my back, fits between my legs, and also goes under my head all at the same time.

Here are the reported disadvantages of using the Snoogle:

As what seems to be the case with all full body pregnancy pillows the size of the pillow is the reported disadvantage. The pillow takes up a lot more space than a traditional pillow.

Users wish there were more stylish Snoogle replacement cover options available. Most of the covers are very plain.

What are Moms saying about the Leachco All Nighter Body Pillow?

Couldn’t Make it Without This Pillow

I believed I could make it through my first pregnancy by stacking pillows all around me in the bed, but both my back and sleep began to suffer. I gave in and bought the Leachco All Nighter Body Pillow and could kick myself for not buying it sooner. The middle of my back was aching, instead of my lower back which is more common, but this pillow provides just the right amount of support to allow me to make it through the day without aches.

I LOVE this Pillow!

I borrowed this pillow from a friend at the start of my pregnancy when I couldn’t stop sleeping on my back. Now I don’t want to give it back! I have slept with it every night for several months and I do not know what I would do without it. The pillow keeps my back angled so even if I roll over on my back I do not lay flat. It’s candy cane shape also allows laying on either side which is great compared to other pillows that do not wrap all the way around. I recommend this pillow to every pregnant woman – it’s been wonderful.

Sooooo Worth it

I bought this pillow when I was about twenty five weeks and starting to have back pain in the mornings. Having the Leachco All Nighter Total Body Pillow is like climbing into a soft, comfortable, cocoon. I was hesitant about spending the money to buy a pregnancy pillow but it is so worth every penny. I climb in bed at night and go “Ahhhhhhh”.

This pillow was designed by Vanessa Blake. She was looking for a maternity pillow that provided the required support she needed without taking up too much space in her bed. Until today this is one of the benefits Moms-to-be like about this maternity pillow.

While pregnant with her first son, Vanessa Blake tried several different maternity pillows but was unable to find one that would allow her to get a good nights sleep. That’s when she decided to design one on her own. The Dreamgenii maternity support pillow was designed to allow moms-to-be to position themselves in the optimal sleeping position. The Dreamgenii encourages you to sleep on the left side of your body in the recovery position as recommended by doctors once you reach your second trimester. This can also encourage the baby to get in the optimum position for birth. One of the other goals of the Dreamgenii maternity support pillow, and what sets it apart from other maternity pillows, is it is designed to simultaneously provide proper support to your back, belly, and legs without being so large that it takes up most of your bed. Vanessa wanted a pillow that would allow her to sleep in the recommended position, avoid the second trimester body aches, but at the same time allow enough room even in a smaller bed that your husband did not have to compete for space.

Is the DreamGenii Maternity Pillow Right for You?

Here are the reported benefits of the DreamGenii Maternity Pillow:

The DreamGenii helps Moms-to-be avoid the back pains, neck pain, and body aches that pregnant moms begin to experience around their second trimester.

The number one complaint for full body maternity pillows is that they take up a lot of space in the bed. The DreamGenii’s compact design provides full body support without taking up too much real estate in the bed.

The slimmed down size of this maternity pillow makes it very easy to adjust at night and also makes it very easy to take along when traveling.

The DreamGenii doubles as an excellent feeding pillow so you will get good use out of it well beyond pregnancy.

What are Moms Saying About the DreamGenii Maternity Pillow?

Reclaim Sleep During Pregnancy!

I didn’t have any sleep issues until the second trimester of my pregnancy, but just like many other women have experienced, I began having difficulty getting comfortable at night and began experiencing aches and pains in the morning. After doing a ton of research on maternity pillows of all shapes and sizes, I decided to buy the DreamGenii maternity support pillow, and I’m very happy I did! We have a full size bed in a relatively small bedroom so I wanted a maternity pillow that wouldn’t kick my husband out of the bed. From the very first night I used this pillow, I slept comfortably all night long and didn’t have the back and hip pains I had been dealing with previously. It was bliss!!!

Fletcher – {review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full original version here}

Incredible!

I usually do not write reviews but this pillow is AMAZING and great for those looking for a very versatile, supportive, maternity pillow that does not take up too much room in the bed. The DreamGenii Maternity support pillow provides support exactly where its needed most including your back, belly, and between your legs. It works great regardless of if you’re on your right or left side (you do not have to flip the pillow every time you turn over). It is also small enough to be portable which I truly appreciate. Overall I had no idea that getting the DreamGenii pillow would help my sleep so much and keep me so comfy at night. I wish I would have ordered it sooner. Highly Recommended.

Great Maternity Pillow

I’m a back sleeper and it was very difficult for me to get comfortable sleeping on my side. I’m 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and would wake up 4-6 times each night because I was uncomfortable and aching. I first got a different maternity pillow but it was too big, took up most of the bed, and made me feel claustrophobic because it ran the whole length of my body from head to toe. I love the DreamGenii maternity support pillow because it is a lot smaller and doesn’t push my husband out of bed. It stops below the shoulder so I do not have to sleep with my lower arm below the pillow. It allows me to still utilize my comfortable down pillow for my head, which wasn’t possible with the other pillow.

Margy – {review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full original version here}

Here are the reported disadvantages of the DreamGenii Pillow:

While the compact design is considered a benefit by the Moms that love this pillow, some moms felt the size was too small to provide the amount of support they wanted, especially when placed between the legs.

Some Moms like that they can still use their standard pillow for their head along with the DreamGenii Pillow. For Moms that preferred the benefits of using a single pillow, and eliminating the need for additional pillows, they felt this pillow didn’t fully meet that need.

The Boppy Total Body Pillow was created to help Moms-to-be alleviate the body pains that are experienced as your pregnancy progresses. This pillow will help you to avoid the back, neck, and leg pains that most pregnant Moms begin to experience usually in their second trimester. The Boppy Total Body Pillow allows you to provide support to your head and neck and also allows you to tuck it between your legs to provide support for your legs and hips. This pillow is shorter in length than most pregnancy body pillows so it easy to reposition for those that turn throughout the night. Its easier to adjust this single pillow than to try to adjust multiple standard pillows that most moms begin to utilize as it becomes more difficult to sleep at night.

Is the Boppy Total Body Pillow Right For You?

Here are the reported benefits of using the Boppy Total Body Pillow:

The Boppy body pillow’s contoured design allows Moms-to-be to support their head, neck, and legs with this single pillow. This will allow you to avoid body and muscle pains that many Moms experience with a standard pillow.

This pillow is shorter in length than the standard pregnancy body pillow so many Moms that turn at night find it easier to adjust to just the right position and easier to move if you need to change positions in the night.

Maintenance of the pillow is easy as it comes with a removable cotton slipcover that can easily be removed and washed.

Here’s what Moms are saying about the Boppy Total Body Pillow:

I Love This Pillow!

I’m a huge fan of the Boppy Total Body pillow. It is very hard to get comfortable while trying to sleep during pregnancy. I like how the bottom of this pillow can be adjusted to rest between my feet, knees, thighs or wherever I may need support. The top of the pillow is great for cuddling and providing support to my growing belly. I also sleep with my back towards the pillow and put the lower part between my legs for support.

What a Godsend!

I’m in my 20th week of my pregnancy and I just received the Boppy Total Body pillow last weekend for my birthday. I can’t find the words to describe just how much I love it. It has perfect support and comfort for my head and has finally allowed me to sleep on my side comfortably each night. I was sleeping on my side prior to receiving this pillow but was ending up more on my stomach than I knew I should be and this has helped tremendously. It is very soft and comfortable and really makes me look forward to going to sleep each night!

Great Body Pillow!

I am currently twenty four weeks pregnant and I own the Boppy Total Body pillow. Before I bought it, I tried getting comfortable with the pillows I had around my house, and I was waking up multiple times each night, adjusting the pillows back into place. The Boppy body pillow has been wonderful. It conforms to my curled body and allows me to sleep better on my side and provides great comfort. The pillow is seamed so that the filling does not shift around a lot and form lumps while sleeping on it at night. Most importantly, I’ve been able to sleep throughout the night peacefully.

Here’s the reported disadvantages of the Boppy Total Body Pillow:

While the Boppy Total Body Pillow is shorter in length than most full body pillows, it still takes up a lot more space in the bed than a traditional pillow. This is reported for most full body pregnancy pillows.

Many older users of this pillow reported that the pillow did not have enough filling. Boppy seems to have addressed this concern and we are no longer seeing reports of issues with too little filling in this pillow.

Some taller Moms have reported that the shorter length of this pillow made it less effective for them however others have reported it worked well.

The question you asked begs an answer about which entire books can — and have — been written. So I’ll try to keep my answer relatively short.

In my opinion, a simple gesture like pointing is not properly language. Language is a *system* of communication designed for clarity and specificity. Pointing may be a universal indicator, but it leaves extreme ambiguity in the intent of communication. It is situation. If you and I are standing in a room and I point to a computer, you might have no idea what I’m saying. If I point past you, and you look behind and see a charging bull, the communique is much clearer. But it’s situational. Language is built as a system for specificity. (Think about sign language, which is far more than just gestures.)

The issue becomes a little tricky because if there is a bull charging behind you and I only shout “Hey! Look!” you may not known where to look (behind you) and dodge out of the way, even though I’ve used “language.” This is one reason to learn language: if we learn a fuller system with more vocabulary, we can better communicate our thoughts. (“Look out behind you! Dodge the bull!”) Sometimes more primitive communication will work, and can be similar to language in that information is transferred between parties. But without some sort of system, or language, clarity and specificity are hard to come by.

What Is Your Opinion On Elimation Communication?

Which is basically “potty training” (teaching infants to communicate they need to pee or poop) infants as young as a couple days old. Many people will start out holding an infant over a toilet or small container to relieve themselves in. Do you think this is effective or should people wait until the child is a toddler to teach them to use the potty?

I think that congratulations goes out to these parents. If they have the time and the patience all the more better for the environment and not having to toilet train around 2 years old.

I have neither the inclination nor the patience. I’m what most people would call a lazy parent who doesn’t use a baby sling and uses dummies/pacifiers and cots (so called baby prisons, lol). I need my space and time out for myself. If that means my child poops and wees in a nappy and I clean it regularly, that is fine by me.

Do you know any resources for a parent to help their visually impaired child learn communication skills?

My son is visually impaired. He has partial vision. He is 15 months old and doesn’t even say mama and dada when he wants us. I know he knows what those words mean, becuase when I say, let’s go get daddy, he perks up and starts looking around for his daddy. He says “uh huh” and shakes his head no. That the closest thing I can get to any kind of verbal response. Have you ever dealt with this before? Do you have any suggestions for me? Do you know of any good online resources that deal with infants and toddlers with visual impairments. I am esspecially looking for something that offers suggestions about how to help my son develop normally. Right now it is mostly his language and communication skills that are effected. Thanks.
Since 85% of a child’s learning is visual from the time they are born at least until age 5, being visually impaired effects all things significantly. When dealing with language and communication specifically, a child learns to mimic your gestures and facial expreassions before learning to vocalize. All of the non-verbal communication that we take for granted plays a role in learning to interperet your environment and the meanings of the things people are saying. If the child can’t see these things they will not learn to do them, and will be much slower at picking up verbal communication. The inability to communicate leads to frustration and probably acting out. Communication mucho importante.

I’m actually surprised at your question after looking at your profile and seeing you are a special education teacher, however, high school kids with special needs are very different from toddlers with special needs. I don’t know where you are located , but someone in you administrative offices can point you in the direction to get started. Has your child been evaluated by the early intervention team in your area? He should be recieving services for language therapy which will improve his vocabulary. I teach pre K special needs to children with a variety of disabilities. One of the first things you can do is instead of presenting material, objects, etc, visually, give the child a concrete object. For example, when giving your child choices on which playground equipment he wants to play on, present him with two objects such a a little tykes playhouse toy of a tricycle to represent a bike, and in the other hand place a little bit of sand to represent the sandbox. Your child will touch and hold onto longer whichever object he prefers and then you can model the word for that object: “You want to play in the sand box… Sand! Tell me “sand”. Then encourage your child to try to say the word “sand”. If your child even approximates the word by just saying the sound /s/, that is progress. Give him lots of verbal praise and take him immediately to that sandbox to reward him and motivate him to verbalize.
It is imperative that your child be referred to a program. His developmental delays and visual impairments need to be addressed with therapy in order to give him the extra support he needs. And you are indeed correct about his visual impairment negatively impacting his speech and language ability. It also impacts his gross motor coordination, sensory integration (balance, vestibular & proprioceptive input), etc. The earlier he is evaluated and receives interventions, the better. By the way, I had a little boy in my Pre K class several years ago (we have 3-5 year olds in public school prek programs here), he only had about 3 words, was visually impaired, language impaired, and fine and gross motor delays. With three years of Pre k services before entering Kindergarten , he is now in a general ed 4th grade class and with some accommodations is meeting grade level curriculum requirements. Good luck

When I first heard of it, I thought it was a marvelous idea. After a first failed attempt at full-time ECing, I’m now part-time ECing and that’s what works for me. I had to lower my expectations but in the end, baby gets a lot of diaper-free time. It’s good for his skin at least: no diaper rash!

I only EC when we’re at home. Since we have carpet everywhere in our apartment, I have purchased a baby foam mat. I put baby (and his bare bum) on a few blankets/towels that are easy to clean. The foam mat is just in case baby spills some pee outside of the “towel-zone” (I have a son – have to be prepared for anything): it’s easier to wipe than carpet. In order for him to keep warm, I put him my socks. Not very fashionable but it does the work. You can also buy baby leg warmers such as these ones: http://www.parentingbynature.com/babylegs.htm

When I don’t feel up to manage a “miss”, I simply put him in a cloth diaper without any liner or waterproof cover. And I change him as soon as he gets wet.

Edit: the rest of the time (when we’re out, when he’s sleeping or simply when I don’t have the energy to clean a mess), I use disposable diapers.

my 26 month old baby girl dont talk?

so my daughter is 26 months old she’s not talking at all she says very little and they are not words actually she just baby talks like if she is trying to talk but i guess that’s her own lingo. so should i ask a dr? my little brother didn’t talk much when he was her age and now that hes 5 its kinda hard to understand him. so any advice for my daughter?

I would double check with pediatrician at next appointment and rule out hearing issues with a hearing test, etc. Yes, some kids talk later. Does she understand what is being said to her? For instance, my son is 22 months old and when I say “go get your boots” or “where’s the remote”, etc he understands even though he cannot say those words/etc.

Continue to label everything for her. Prompt her to give words for things she wants, it doesnt have to be perfect but let her try. My son is shy and will never say words when prompted hardly, but comes out with them on his own randomly…so every kid is different.

My son still does not use phrases or put words together except for “whats that” “what’d you do” and “uh oh” But he does say, mommy, daddy, sashy (for Ashley), poppop, apple, egg, cookie, ducky, sheep, eye, pot, baby, hot, please, Elmo, and he knows most his ABC’s and I think he knows most numbers 1-10 but he doesnt say them around me, although he lets them slip sometimes. I know my son is smart, but he is very shy and does not like to talk around others, so most people assume he doesnt say much, but he really does. Mostly, I have to listen carefullt to make out his words so you may have to do the same. I am still trying to figure words out he says, He says “Dabby” and “Oh Gee Gah” ALL THE TIME, and I have NO IDEA what it means, lol.

Encourage, read, prompt, label, and I’m sure she will be fine.

Can babies understand each other?

Well my little brother is 4 years old and he is very obsessed with Disney movies. When he was watching Monsters Inc. The little girl was talking and he was able to understand what she said, even translating it for me. So is it possible for them to understand each other (even though the girl wasn’t real) in all that baby talk?

does it drive you BATTY when people use baby talk to dogs?

i work with this woman who is SO SO nice. but she uses the most obnoxious baby talk when she sees my dogs. it’s SO high pitched that it actually hurts my ears. (and probably the poor dog’s, too!)
and my dogs don’t understand that crap, i never talked to them like that. they don’t even respond to it- they can see she is weak, they do’t even bother to look at her. i have told her that they will be happier if she just says their name (which makes them wag) but she still insists on using this ear-splitting squeak!
HOW can i politely get her to stop that?
note: she is one of my superiors….
ADD::::::::::::::
i have more practice talking to dogs than talking to people….
honestly, if it was just babble, i wouldn’t care. but it’s so squeaky, it’s like nails on a chalkboard. it actually makes my skin crawl.
and my dogs treat her as if she is a worthless submissive thing. it’s rather insulting to her, but she doesn’t have the good sense to understand it.

and then she wonders why her dog walks ALL over her.
for those of you who are under the impression that “dogs respond better to high pitched sound”
explain to me then why they actually TURN their back on this woman- and pretty much anyone else who does it- yet run, wagging, to anyone who calls their name in a normal voice?
and MY dogs aren’t rescues. they are well rounded, and were never abused. they CERTAINLY don’t need reasurrance. they just want to be patted- and they ARE in work mode when they are here. they’re working!

Okey Dokey now. Let’s get one thing clear right from the start. Anyone who insists on talking squeaky baby talk to a dog is a moron.

I do everything I can not to subject my dogs to human morons. It is a very bad influence on them and since I have taught them better I would really rather they not hear this annoying chatter.

I take different dogs to work with me every day. I have my office set up for my dogs, my door is gated in case I need to keep them confined, otherwise they have full run of the building.

Now, everyone who knows me knows that I do not allow my dogs any affection when they are acting like they have no sense. People know I do not allow human food. And if someone new comes by and happens to be “one of those” people who baby talk I ask they not do that because they are putting themselves BELOW my dogs.

People don’t like that. I also tell them to stand up straight when addressing my animals.

Baby talk is for babies.

Like pee pee, poo poo– stuff like that? Or should I say “go to the washroom” right off the bat.
I kinda hate the kiddy talk, but I figure it’s easier for him to understand. Maybe switch it up when he’s a bit older– or should I be mature about it right off the bat?

I don’t like using the baby talk. I think it’s hard enough to learn language without having to learn something once and then learn it the correct way later. I know my MIL and FIL love to call things “pretties” they will say don’t touch grandma’s pretties or something along those lines and it drives me crazy. I say just teach them what it is right off the bat. I do think you can tone it down a bit for a baby and not use full sentences.

High pitched baby talk with my new puppy?

I just got a 10 week old black lab and my 9 year old sister talks in a really high pitched voice when she is playing with him. This is not how she normally talks and no one can understand what she is trying to say to him. I fear that she is going to mess up his training because I am training to be a hunting dog and he is on a very strict schedule with training and trying to get him on the right track health wise. I got him very under nourished. I’m worried her “baby talk” and high pitched talk it going to damage his hearing. Should I stop her from doing it?
I don’t mind that she plays with him when she is here but the voice is just annoying.

The Best Of User answers:

If the voice annoys you, deal with that but I would not worry about him and his training. Dogs figure out different relationships/expectations very quickly. If they didn’t, my work as a pro trainer would be a LOT easier!

Do what you are going to do with him, be consistent, have fun and he will sort it all out.

And damage his hearing? Ask his vet but that seems like an unlikely thing unless she is yelling directly into his ears.

I found a video a while ago with a baby talking like the godfather with subtitles. Anyone got a link for me?

The Best Of User answers:

There are 3 different things you can do to try and find a
video that you have previously seen. Not only that, you
can make your results appear either: 1) in alphabetical
order, 2) in chronological order or 3) in photo thumbnail
form:

ALPHABETICALLY (tons of results):
highlight the URL address bar on top, then simply type
in the word “youtube”. From those results, you will see:
– every YouTube address you typed
– every YouTube channel you visited
– every YouTube video you watched
but it will be ugly YouTube code like “v=Ab1Cd2eF3Gh”.

CHRONOLOGICALLY (many results):
simply click on your internet browser’s “History” button
or tap “CTRL” and the letter “H” on your keyboard, and
you will get a daily list of every website which you have
visited. Every YouTube video will be mixed in with all of
the different websites, but it’ll actually be easier for you
to find what you’re looking for — because everything will
be displayed in “plain” English. And because each and
every YouTube video is in fact its own website, you will
also be able to see the full title of each video.

PHOTO THUMBNAIL (few results):
at the top right of just about every YouTube page is the
name “QuickList”. Click on that, and then after you are
on the new page, click on “History” immediately below
the highlighted grey bar. You will see thumbnails of the
most recent videos you have viewed, but only the most
recent. That is because every time that you open / exit
YouTube, everything vanishes, and starts all over again.

Believe it or not, you can see your YouTube “QuickList”
and “viewing history” from right here within Yahoo. Just
click on my links below, and they’ll take you directly to
“YOUR VERY OWN” histories. (YouTube may first ask
you to ‘sign in’ with your username and your password):

The Best Of User answers:

My son loves the “My Baby Can Talk” videos, and both my husband and I have been very glad we bought them. I find it very hard to believe that they are hurting him in any way, and yes, I am aware that the research is not in favor of babies watching DVDs. The best one is the second one–Sharing Signs. We had that one for several months; then I went back and bought the other two. The first one has a lot of animals; the third one has all the colors. The second one is mostly every day objects. My son hasn’t done any sign language, but he does talk quite well for a 15 month old, and many of his words are ones that are on the videos. Even if you don’t have luck with the signing, I think it is good for regular language reinforcement to see pictures of the object and hear the word. They are more like books, only with music and sound, then they are like a typical children’s DVD. We also like the “First Signs” Baby Einstein DVD, but we haven’t found many of the other ones to be appealing (and we have a 20-set box). He likes “First Moves” and “On the Go.” My suggestion is to go to your local library before buying any Baby Einstein–you should be able to check many of them out there. I’ve never seen My Baby Can Talk at a library, but they are worth the price.
